The Pacers and Frank Vogel have parted ways after 6 seasons. Vogel took over the role from Jim O’Brien after O’Brien was fired in 2011. Since taking over the head coaching position, Vogel went 250-181 in the regular season and 31-30 in the playoffs. Their largest success came in the 2013-14 season where they secured the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. The team went on to the conference finals where they lost to the Miami Heat led by LeBron James. Vogel instilled his confidence in a young Paul George allowing him to blossom in to stardom. However, in the world of professional sports almost everyone is dispensable and if you can not turn the corner, you will be replaced. This may seem like a failure at the surface level but Vogel is rumored as being pursued by the Knicks for their vacant head coaching position.
