Green Bay Packer Eddie Lacy has been under heavy (no pun intended) scrutiny this offseason. With public criticism from coach Mike McCarthy, the tailback sought the assistance of P90x founder Tony Horton to get into optimal playing shape. It appears that the message resonated with Lacy, as he showed up to the start of the team offseason program noticeably lighter. Sources say that Lacy has lost about 15-18 pounds since last season.

The bruiser back lost playing time to James Starks towards the later part of the season, with his weight becoming a pressing issue as the Packer run game struggled to generate yards during the home stretch. It appears that Lacy may be setting himself up for a bounce back season, after running for only 784 yards and 3 TD’s last season, both of which were career-lows. The weight loss and increased fitness adds potential long-term value, complementing the physical & downhill style of running that Lacy thrives on with increased stamina and agility. Cheesehead faithfuls are hoping for a rejuvenated version of Lacy, as the Packers will surely need to rely on a balanced offensive attack in order to seriously contend for a Super Bowl title.
