Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

It’s been nearly two years since Superman’s (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with General Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis and sister city Gotham. The loss of many life’s and collateral damage left many feeling angry, helpless, and confused including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign as a god on Earth, while the evil and cunning Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade of unexpected and elusive attacks against the Man of Steel.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice may be getting some mixed reviews from critics, some critic’s totally bash the film, but it’s bringing in enough money to call it a true success. Aside from that, many are trying to interpret and figure out everything that takes place in the film and how it fits into the DC Film Universe. With two and a half hours of screen time, some of the more confusing things in the movie can easily go unnoticed as Director Zack Snyder has his own take on Marvel’s signature post credit easter eggs. Throughout the film multiple unexpected and unexplained dream sequence’s take place and this is where true DC fans got what they were looking for. The nightmare’s had by Bruce Wayne, and their true meaning have a lot to do with future films, and set-up for the Justice League.

Darkseid is Out There and He’s Coming!

 Bruce's nightmare

This small bit in Bruce’s nightmare where he’s looking over what seems to be closer to hell rather than Gotham City is a definite reference to Justice Leagues apex villain Darkseid. Not only is he coming, but he’s bringing his Omega Beams with him, too. If you look on the wasteland before Batman you see a giant omega sign, the symbol of Darkseid.

batmans nightmare

With another clip showing us Batman at war with the henchmen of an evil Superman, who earlier in the clip killed innocents and attempted to kill Batman. Does Superman somehow fall under the will of Darkseid? These questions appear to be the toughest answer but it is possible to see the man of steel take a villainous role in future films. Batman is also fighting against parademons in the same sequence. Parademons are the followers and army of Darkseid, again hinting the fore-coming of the Omega king. So it is likely you will see more acton/battle sequences with the parademons in future films.

Darkseid is definitely coming and he’s going to set out to destroy the Justice League, once they are all together. The omega king is hinted quite often in the film, but he’s never actually name-dropped. Though the ending provided even more clues as to the coming of Darkseid. When Lex Luthor is in jail and visited by Batman. Luthor keeps saying, “He’s coming. The bell has been rung,” and that’s pretty much a reference directly to Darkseid. No, that’s not in a Batman nightmare, but it adds to the speculation of the giant villain arriving soon.

The Flash Warns Bruce

Another dream sequence came as Wayne was downloading information from LexCorp, and someone freakishly came out of his screen and spoke with him. We get a very obscured look at what I believe to be a very weak and distraught flash. It is presumed that the Flash is communicating with Bruce Wayne via an alternate universe or the Speed Force/Cosmic Treadmill since Flash has the ability to time travel. Flash warns Batman that Lois Lane is the key, and it does certainly appear as if time travel is involved, because when Wayne looks on confused, the man in the sequence states “I’m too early.”He even tells Batman, “You were right about Superman all along.” It’s hard to tell what exactly he means at this point, and what is so bad about Superman and Lois Lane in regard to the world and Batman himself.

Unite The Seven

The Justice League is certainly going to have their hands full when he does come around. Yes, Doomsday was a gigantic, energy-enhancing, monstrous alien, but the DC Trinity was able to defeat him, even though there was one casualty. Darkseid is an entirely different beast though. Justice League is going to bring together the entire team, but the seeds were truly planted in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even more than the DC Trinity coming together, so much was revealed by the dreams or nightmares that Bruce Wayne had to endure. Looking at them a bit further and figuring out what they mean gives even more clues as of what’s to come.
